Woman's Christian Temperance Union
A friend has asked you to join (or support) the Woman's
Christian Temperance Union. She tells you that the group is interested in more
than just abstinence from alcohol; they also work with other social reform
issues such as prostitution, public health, and sanitation. She gives you an article to read about the Women's Temperance Convention in New Jersey and is especially excited about the work of Captain Jack that is described in the article.
Read the article and answer your friend to let her know if you will be joining (or not joining) the WTCU and explain why. Be sure to give her your opinion of the work of Captain Jack.
